Cutting-edge international research, interdisciplinary and innovative study programmes, opportunities for cross-border study – We offer all this and more!

Saarland University offers not only a stimulating and dynamic environment in which to study, but numerous other benefits, too. Many courses are organized as small-group sessions, which is why we can offer our students personal academic supervision throughout the entire duration of their studies. To maintain the high quality of our teaching, we regularly carry out academic quality audits. A particularly appealing feature is the range of international academic programmes with an integrated study-abroad phase leading to double-degree qualifications.

With students and research scientists from more than 120 different countries on campus, our university is truly a global community.

The Career Center can assist you with career planning, and its job portal allows you to search for employment opportunities as well as work placements and internships. Take a look at our broad range of innovative degree programmes and become part of our vibrant international community.

Border Studies (M.A.)

Borders are one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century. The international and interdisciplinary Master's degree programme is offered by a consortium comprising Saarland University and three other universities in Germany, France and Luxembourg.

The M. A. programme prepares graduates for careers in areas of transborder and intercultural cooperation, particularly in Europe's border zones and beyond. Career opportunities are available in the business sector, cultural institutions and agencies, the media and public-sector administration (e.g. cross-border regional and spatial planning, cross-border public services and development, cross-border cultural management and regional marketing).

Saarland University is a university with global reach, providing assistance to international students and offering an extensive array of services to welcome new arrivals. We help our international students prepare for their stay, by helping them find accommodation and registering them for a suitable German language course. Once they arrive on campus, we help them get acquainted with university life and provide information to assist them in finding a student job. We also organize intercultural leisure activities to help our international students settle in quickly.
